Only 1 Drydock?
I built a drydocks and added a second trading ship, awesome. However, when I try to build a second drydock, it says I've reached my limit. I Haven't gotten all the way through the tech tree yet (currently up to democracy) but I didn't notice anything that would allow me to build more drydocks and there's no hint telling me how to get more DD's.

Any idea why I cannot build more than 1 drydocks or how to get more?

PS: I also tried demolishing the existing drydock and building it again, but the option to add a new trade ship was already activated

Unique Buildings you can only build one.

So you can't get more than 2 trading ships? I thought I read another poster who said they used 5 trading ships to complete some trade mission (I could and probably am completely wrong on that tho)

Build normal Dock and not Drydock.

You can build many normal docks

I didn't think normal docks would give me trading ships, thought those were just for moving cargo. Will having multiple regular docks cause problems with cargo sitting at one dock but freighters all going to another (sorry if these sound like dumb questions, I played the ever loving hell out of Topico 1 (and unless you set the extra docks to tourist only, that would happen) and this is the first sequel I played of the franchise so I'm a wee bit behind lol)

Dry Dock is simply an upgrade tool. 5k for reinforced hulls--- 50% more capacity. 20 K for an extra ship per Dock.

You want a lot of docks. Generally speaking. I during the Colonial period drop down 6 docks as soon as I can. This will be my main industry area. During the cold war I may drop 10 or more. It is not unusal for me to have 15-20 docks by modern age.

ahhhhh, I gotcha! Thanks for clearing that up! Wow, that changes everything lol. Took me forever to get the drydock tech, then buy it, then pay 20k for the extra ship lol. Can't imagine how much different/better it'll be with more than 1-2 trading ships and extra docks. Thanks again!!

I agree with this advice totally. It seems to be a major difference from prior Tropicos. In prior Tropicos, you could get away with one or two docks on an island but in 5, you need multiple docks, at least three or four if not more.

Drydocks double (with upgrades) the number of trade ships made available per dock, so the idea is to build more docks

Not really, 3-4 are more than enough, until you expand your island just put some more near the coast area's. If you put budget on max at start, they will arive every 5 months (if you have dynasty or managers, it could go to 4 monts). And every era it will go down one month.

Well I trade a whole lot, import, export. 3-4 docks will not do the job. Even with 20 docks, I run out of ships. Anyways, you enjoy your 3-4 docks. I will continue to use a lot more, and tell people they should build a lot more then 3 or 4. :)

At a certain point money really does not do anything anymore. So getting more will make it a number / score. Buildings many docks will destroy the view of your city. You can build a nice city or a ugly city.

If you have fun building 20 docks, then more power to you, but people should know that that's not normal gameplay l0l.

Might be fun to try a no-raw production scenario, but for normal trading and production that is like 400% overkill.

How does it ruin the city looks? Do you put all your docks in one area? Have you ever played a huge island? I guess if you were to line up 20 docks in a row it might look ugly, I am doubtful on that mind. I like the way the docks line up.
