Battling
Does anyone have any tips on how to fight, or at least how to defend your Island during the third mission of the single player campain? Having serious problems with either Axis or Allies coming into attack, killing all my soldiers, tanks, and whatever else I have, then destroying all of the guard towers and taking down the palace without losing a single unit.

I had troubles with this on Tropico 4, but I never really had much invasion. This scenario is only about it, and I could do with some help.

Is that the Mission where one of the other islands is invading?. I didnt have any real issues with the mission invasion at all. If your getting invaded by one of the great powers that is a standing issue.

As far as defending against them.. i hav enever had my standing drop that far yet and im in the modern era. so sadly i cant gve you battle advice.

You should not be invaded by Axis and Allies, I think it starts with an invasion from a neighbour island with a peace treaty for a certain number of months, build embassies when you can (after your industry) to increase your relationship with Axis and Allies. You will not be invaded by them if you have good standing.

Whenever you can, use praise in the embassies.

Also do not use the alliance option unless you have a large military, there is no point allying if you have good relationship with both of them and it is not required.

I won with 4 army bases, 2 barracks and the towers that they asked me to build to delay the invasion.

I lost that Mission by following the instructions, so I just doubled the amount of military buildings the game asks for: 8 bases and 4 barracks. That was overkill against Isla Rojo. Also, the people were upset that I built and fully funded that much military, but when they revolted my happy soldiers crushed them like insects. It's good to be El Presidente!

But I don't think it's possible to survive an Allied or Axis invasion. Maybe it is? Just don't let things get so bad that they want to invade you.

It is easy to survive an foreign invasion. I got invaded three times during the WW1 era. Two times just because I sided with the allies and once to progress to the nect era. Militia is easily the most useful constitution option.

I don't think I actually went out to be on the Allies side. I just saw my Axis level drop to 20, and they invaded...

No no they invaded me once because I sided with the allies, twice because they hate me and a fourth time, because of the peace talks.

Keep in mind that the initial invasion that triggers right from the start will not destroy your palace. It is scripted so that if you get your butt kicked (and you will) then the enemy will sign an 8 year ceasefire with you right before your palace gets blown to rubble.

So basically, that first invasion is just to scare you into building up your military to an appropriate size before the real invasion arrives much, much later.

The funny thing is, the first time I played that mission I was able to repel the invaders without much of a problem. It was hilerious.

Yeah, I kinda gathered it was automated. Just getting crushed with the actual attack or the Allies/Axis attack atm.

Build some towers in the harbors (have multiple on the island- otherwise you'll get heavy conqestion) so they will attack the towers instead of your factories.
Defeating an invasion or even rebel attack is very easy. Note where they spawn from and build a fortress with a couple of towers there. To defeat an invasion, build your own normandy beach with forts. Position the long side of the fort against the beach and build 2 -4 forts in a line near or around the first dock based on where they spawn but give them space to spawn. Between each fort, place 2 towers to give you a nice coverage of defences. I rely less on squads but you will still need them. Minimum would be 1 of each squad military buildings. All your beach defences need to be next to each other and the fort has a circular radius from center so the direction it faces is important.

Im still trying to find a way to get my deplomatic relations low enough just to get an invasion, it still hasnt happened yet.

Both rebels and invaders like to use roads so you can also use that to get them to flow the way you want.
