Max population 2000?

I'm hovering at 2000 ±25 in my sandbox game. Only complaint I've got so far is this, the rest of the game is fun but this bothers me. In Tropico 4 it was only 1500 and all it's been increased by is 500? Why does the population graph show 5000 at the max?

Ok, maybe something else is going on. Can I ask how much more? I've got plenty of jobs with openings, plenty of open housing and I've been hovering around 2000 for about 20 years now.

Most I ever heard of was 2080.
Which is still small.
Over on the Kaylpso forums there is a post about attempting to mod the game to increase population.
Maybe they planned on 5K but had to scale back because ti was multiplatform and consoles ( or weak PCs ) couldn't handle it.
An island with 5K pop would be sweet

Yeah it would, I'm on a huge island and have used 1/4th-1/3rd of it. Would have loved to see it get into the 10k area for max.

It's really annoying... 1st it should be stated somewhere, 2nd get rid of the limit all toghether on PC or make it configurable in sandbox mode

Yeah I've hit about 2025 then I start getting emigration and it falls back below 2000.

I found the file that has the game population limits in it using the Tropico 3/4 .hpk unpacker. But since it's just being worked out for Tropico 5, the numbers come out like they're characters on Cthulu's tomb. So I'm waiting on a population increase mod, it just kinda feels like I can't expand anymore or do anything new being stuck at this 2k limit.

There's a point where the population takes a nose dive or level out due to aging population...

Contraceptive ban edict and birth rate enhancements on clinics and cineplexes with romantic comedies... Soon you will have a population boom. 4 to 5 children per familiy , lol.

Force hiring of foreigners help.

Wait till they reach 18 years old and become working adult. Of course, you will then have a glut of young people that're illterate due to insufficient educational facilities... Welcome to 3rd world countries.

The limit is 2015. You can go over that, temporarily, but people will leave your island until you get back down to 2015 or below. It's a soft limit, but the game will keep pushing you down to that number.

This is a bummer, I was hoping for a much higher population cap. At least 5,000 people.

I found and hosted a population increase mod, sets it to 5k. Should be on the front page. Feed your inner El Presidente and watch as your Swiss bank account and power swell as the masses do.

Part 4 had a mod for the pop cap if i recall

If anyone recent like me wants to play the game, you can set the pop limit up to 10,000 in the base game, and in multiplayer, if both/all players have 10,000 as the max pop then that 10,000 will be shared out between the players, i.e. 5000 each, 2500 each. ;)

I got 3100 people at one time. Slow down my game considerably.

Then again, I am playing on a 5 years old laptop...
