Depends what you mean by bad.

People claim its a bad game cause their using unsupported hw, but that's their issue and not the fault of the game.

It is great besides no function to save in multiplayer, loving everythign else about it. Most people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ just don't have a dx11 card yet for what ever reason.

My main problem is the apparent lack of information compared to tropic 4, especially in regards to your relationship with the factions.

All the faction information is still there you just need to go to politics in the almanac then click facitons.

OP, remember the rule of vocal minority. The few hundred people that hate it will post their hate everywhere and spread the word of how horrible it is, while the remaining thousands upon thousands that enjoy and love the game are too busy playing the game, and even if they weren't they wouldn't bother going here because they have nothing to complain about.

I've read a few complaints about the almanac and it's lack of information, I think that stems from a lot of people simply not clicking on the individual items that are clickable and which then gives them more information. Sure there is some more info that I'd like to see that simply isn't there but overall it's okay, not spectacular, but not terrible either. In previous Tropico games I hated having to open the almanac at all, now I'm constantly opening it up to get the info that I desire to know about.

I suspect that stems from the way that the almanac changes graphs when you simply mouise over items, which I believe makes people think that there isn't any more information else it would already show up for them. We must remember that not everybody is a clicker lol.

As to the OP, I guess it will depend on you. I think the game is not nearly as bad as some people are trying to portray it as. It still needs a little more refinement in my opinion but it's not a bad game to me by any stretch of the imagination.

They came with a lot of new ideas that reinvented the series, it requires less micromanagement and you can now see when your clinics, churches and entertainment buildings are over used so you can adjust.

Problem is that the multiplayer is pretty much dead in the water right now due to all the issues its having and there are problems with the single player not loading story missions or crashing.

My machine can handle the Crysis series of games so I know for a fact it's not my rig having issues. They're putting up patches and it is fun to play but it launched unfinished and frankly this is the sort of bs I expect from EA appeasing its shareholders.

This is exactly the situation

This game is awesome, a excellent addition to the Tropico series of games.

Commodore Dannerson - Don't misquote me. That's not what i said, put it into your own words if that's what you think.

Edit: thankyou for editing that.

Is this game worth buying now or should I wait a little while
jamesc70 May 25, 2014 @ 7:35am
As someone who buys a game mainly for the campaign, I don't like Tropico 5's campaign structure, limited buildings, and the new Era mechanic.

You play the same two islands over and over, and anything you previously built on them carries over, so you tend to 'game the system' by not winning when you can, but by building as much as you can before you win, so the next mission on the same map is easier or has more developed. I also get tired of playing on the same islands.

Regular farms, upscale restaurants, childhood museums, and other buildings have been removed. Combined with the Era mechanic, this means in the early game (2-3 missions worth) you have a very limited amount of buildings. In Entertainment for example, you have the Pub and the Restaurant, and that is it... no more entertainment buildings until 3 entire missions in.

But, I'm enjoying myself now... just don't think I'll be replaying the campaign missions ever. Spending so much time on one island over and over, and I'll not want to replay them.
