What is kalypso Launcher?
What benefits do I get from usig the Kalypso launcher? The game seems to run fine, and I've ever played multiplayer without it.

Nothing except that you get the chance to see their :dollars:promotional:dollars: offer and all new release and that you have to wait in my case 3 days before the activation was completed after i bought and installed the game...

It's totally something you need in all game, i wonder why there is not more company that add a 3rd party DRM, i enjoy those so much, i wonder what would be my gaming experience without those...

Cool.... I was hoping it wasn't required for some types of multiplayer or perhaps to "register" your dynasty.

I've had games like LA Noir where this kind of crap was mandatory.

Yeah it is, but you can avoid using it if you disable your interent connection. Well it was the case when i played at release, not sure if they changed this, been a while since i played this game...

Yeah, it must have been changed. I've played a few times now and did my first multiplayer last night. I just click "skip" and there's a "Play Tropico 5" button.

But I had no idea if I was losing functionality by playing the game without logging in.

Nice that they changed it, it was a pain in the ass... Well you only see the news related to Kalypso in general and can receive some news by email, but other than that, you miss only the bad part of those 3rd party DRM

I'll try to survive missing that 3rd party DRM. Thanks for the info!

Just to sum this up:
- If you have purchased Tropico 5 via Steam, the Kalypso-Launcher is optional to be used/registered in addition.
- When you have purchased the game as boxed version, you just need it once for activation, or for updates/DLCs.
- If you have purchased the GoG.com version, for sure you do not need it at all.

-cheers
