I'm being forced to change islands?

I just (successfully) rebelled for the first time, and now I've got a game screen which gives me only a single option of islands to play, which isn't the island I started out playing. Is this what's supposed to happen?

You will have two islands during the game

I do not have two islands, the entire list of islands to play consists of one island.

Or do you mean it's only going to reset me like this once?

You will have to use two islands. You can't play on only one island and develop it to the max

If you're talking about the campaign, campaign missions always happen on 2 islands "simultaneously": for mission 1 you can pick between 2 islands, for mission 2 you get the island you didn't pick for mission 1, for mission 3 you can pick again between the same 2 islands, for mission 4 you get the island you didn't pick for mission 3, and so on.

At some point in the main campaign, you'll get a brand new couple of islands. If you want to just play one island quietly, go for the sandbox
