Exact Numbers of Mimics in Colored Chests
I am using English. I wonder what "1 mimic is hiding among black chests" means? In common language it can mean "exactly 1" or "greater than or equal to 1".

It means "exactly 1". For "greater than or equal to 1", it will say "There is a mimic among the black boxes".

Similarly, in Random mode, if a chest says "1 of these boxes contains a mimic", it's saying that there is exactly 1 mimic in the entire room. If there's more than 1 mimic, then that chest is lying.

I agree that it is ambiguous and I don't think I'm the only one who has thought that any chests making claims about the exact number of mimics should have the word "Exactly" at the start of their statements.

Thanks for the answer. I came across several cases where I can interpret it in both ways but so far I can get through by assuming >=1 (or just give up) so I didn't have a conclusion yet.

In some other sentences there are "more mimics than" and "less mimics than", but at least there are "same numbers of mimics" somewhere in the same room.

Even if there isn't, there could still be the "same number of mimics". For example, if you have:
  • A chest in the top row claiming the top row has more mimics than the bottom row
  • A chest in the bottom row saying it's the other way around
Those 2 chests could both be mimics if the truth is that both rows have the same number of mimics, even if none of the chests in the room actually say that.
