Tsukijima's Grimoire Of Eld (Spoilers?) Volcano
Hello all i read that to get this you must allow the Volcano to kill the Salamanders.. is this true is there any other way around this ?

Or is this one of those decisions where you "must" play to at least 2 play troughs to get it ?

It's an either/or. Stopping the volcano recruits the Salamanders. If the volcano erupts, there's an island that emerges from the sea with the Grimoire on it allowing you to unlock Dark Magic (the Grimoire also recruits the Diviners). No Volcano eruption, no grimoire.

Recruited characters don't carry over between playthroughs, so you can't have Grimoire/Dark magic with Diviners and Salamanders at the same time.

The upside is that once you unlock Dark Magic, you keep the grimoire as a key item to use in NG+ to build the Umbrology lab fast.

Are you sure about that? I'm on my 2° run and I can't find the book in my inventory (I used it on the first run)

You have to choose between the two every playthrough, it's pretty much the only real choice in the game that the player is forced to choose between two things.
Umbrology (+Diviner) or Salamanders.
Personally I felt horrible letting the Salamanders die so I'll unlikely ever choose Umbrology in the future but it's apparently pretty powerful (I never really utilised it since I like Cosmology too much).

If it helps, they dont all die and you can go back to the village and and museum and see them standing around acting like nothing happened at all.

I like umbrology alot. Some characters with poor magic have surprisingly high reason. Shadow servant is basically invulnerable plus double attack until it is broken.
