Can't decide how to handle 'The Corsairs' Dilemma'

Should I go to the mines for the spell book? Can I still unlock the Corsair class later?

Realized I could just go to the mine to get the spellbook, leave, then go to the cape to unlock the corsair class.

Yes, that's what I did too. Do them both.
Trigger the cutscene in the Pirates' Hideout, then the ship. You can clear the whole mine, just remember to go to Cape Chalier instead of the ship and you're good to go. :)
