They feel very similar while also feeling pretty different.

It's a very faithful remake for sure. The story is the same, though with some extra content that was previously only available in supplementary media (like a Stage Play, a defunct Browser game, a gacha game and so on) is now available in-game, which is neat.

As for changes... Well, maps are completely different as they're made in 3D.

We now have a battle timeline that shows you the turn order, which changes how you plan your turns out a lot.

Overdrive is now a thing.

Magic Levels of units without Built-in levels on a magic school now start at 0 instead of Global Level -7, which ended up nerfing some units to the ground.

Weapons are now split into more categories.

The Weakness/Resistance system was greatly simplified.

Battles feel way more snappy and just feel overall better to play.

Seven Heroes were reworked to be more interesting, and now they aren't necessarily immune to all status aliments.

Gear system was completely overhauled, which was interesting, though it made Full Armor Suits and most built-in gear pieces worthless.

Dark Magic was given extra spells to be more than just "Shadow Servant + a bunch of garbage", now it actually has some interesting options to it.

Diviner and Salamander were made to be mutually exclusive for some very strange reason.

You can now change your party at will in Avalon, and you don't need to build the new city district to become capable of adding members all over the world to your party in Avalon.

Magic now needs to be glimmered and Fusion Magic needs to be found in Chests, instead of just needing to increase your Global Levels for both.

2 new characters were added.

Smithing was reworked.

Mr. S are now a thing.

There are now super lame lazy works of NG+ exclusive difficulties that just increase enemy stats and do nothing else, which essentially just makes your defensive stats pointless and does nothing else for the gameplay.

And uhn... There's more if I try thinking of it.

Overall, both the original and the remake feel great to play. The Remake did a lot of good changes, and did some seriously questionable changes too. But I certainly loved playing through it anyways.

Most importantly though, it managed to preserve the feeling of the original, so I felt like I was still playing that game I love so much, even though it had a lot of changes made to it.

thanks, yeah from what i´ve read they seem to be completely diferent games gameplay wise, in neither a better or worse way, just different.
almost RE2 remake vs og thing going own here?

So i will treat they as different games when i go play them, will definitely play both one day but probably the remake first since modern games tend to be more confortable to play and all.I love retro games but i need to be in a certain mindset to play them

I haven't played Resident Evil myself, so I can't compare them, but what I can say is that this game and the original both feel like the same game.

There are plenty of differences, but the feel is still the same, and that's why I love the remake.

But yes, the remake is definitely the more comfortable and intuitive one to play.
