It's just mostly that glimmers are quite different for magic but Xp is actually pretty balanced for once in a saga game.
When I completed the demo Gerard had level 2 in fire and nothing else he didn't inherit.
I guess it makes some sense too, when you first start to learn how to, say, use a bow, it'd take a while to get the hang of it.
White tunic Gerard is an exception. White tunic Gerard sucks at absolutely everything, and is flatout unusable as a character.
Gold armour Gerard on the other hand has some pretty good growth rates across the board, and will contribute alot more to the imperial record.
I did notice that Leon seems a lot better at glimmering than he used to be; I think he had the "can only learn defensive moves" type in the old release, but he picked up a new shortsword tech for me in the demo, and the glimmer chart shows him having access to other techs.
Yeah, white tunic Gerard is a unique category of sparking that is exclusive to Leon, the Coppelia and himself. It was built for characters to either not become too strong, or to stay comparitively weak for story purposes.
I agree with you; it looks alot like Leon is no longer part of this category. Guy sparks like crazy in the remake.
