Magic Exp Super Slow
Why is the magic leveling so nerfed compared to weapons? Id the level cap on magic lower so they're compensating by making it harder to level?

It's not. Level 0 to 1 is very slow for everything. You are probably looking at Gerard and Therese magic. But if you look at Leon's he actually XP quite fast. And as soon as There and Gerard get their first level you will see they level quite fast again like with weapons (well Gerard struggles with everything at first since he has everything at 0 but you get the point).

It's just mostly that glimmers are quite different for magic but Xp is actually pretty balanced for once in a saga game.

All skills level up super slow when they are level 0, only to jump two levels upon breaking through that point.

When I completed the demo Gerard had level 2 in fire and nothing else he didn't inherit.

You can have Gerard at level 3-4 in Fire if you want in the demo if you really spam fire spells and use BP recovery items frequently. Even more so if you keep some encounters for the end of the demo like Doppelgangers give about 130 TP when fought at rank 2 instead of about 80. (They also hit like a truck at that point lmao)

It'll be ok, chill...

Yeah, skills level real slow at level 0.
I guess it makes some sense too, when you first start to learn how to, say, use a bow, it'd take a while to get the hang of it.

Each class and character has one of sixteen possible growth rates. Magic will always Lv slowly for a class that is not meant to Lv up magic.

White tunic Gerard is an exception. White tunic Gerard sucks at absolutely everything, and is flatout unusable as a character.
Gold armour Gerard on the other hand has some pretty good growth rates across the board, and will contribute alot more to the imperial record.

Now this is interesting. I don't recall the original having different growth rates like that (even though it's standard for many other SaGa games)--has level up info been found through testing/data reading for the remake?

I did notice that Leon seems a lot better at glimmering than he used to be; I think he had the "can only learn defensive moves" type in the old release, but he picked up a new shortsword tech for me in the demo, and the glimmer chart shows him having access to other techs.

Yeah, white tunic Gerard is a unique category of sparking that is exclusive to Leon, the Coppelia and himself. It was built for characters to either not become too strong, or to stay comparitively weak for story purposes.

I agree with you; it looks alot like Leon is no longer part of this category. Guy sparks like crazy in the remake.
