When you wipe out, you lose all tech?
Hi. I wipe out and thought I would re-formation my team back to fight a boss. But when I hire characters of the same class as my old party. They don't have any tech skill that was gain during journey anymore. and It doesn't in the training either. So it completely gone?

I thought people says dying is good in this game. Some guide even say that it let you get new unit who is stronger in same generation, but if their default power at start is like beginning again all over, then how does this being good? We also need to re-learn tech again which takes time too. Some require luck.

Techs only become teachable once someone learned it once and a time skip happens, IIRC regardless of wether they're alive, in the party or even still have the skill learned.

So, I’m playing on Hard, I’ve lost 2 characters, and now they’ve got 0 tech.
This is before beating Vicar.

Am I doomed to have the 2 new equivalent characters without a single tech?

If that’s the case, it completely puts me off the game, am I supposed to regrind hours to re learn the same techs?

You can teach learned techs in the palace after you unlock the feature.
Same applies for magic, once you've built the corresponding facility for it.

However, once you start new game+, everything resets, the skills which your characters have at the time will remain on them for the next run, however.

You don't need to relearn techs, the characters died but the knowledge is acquired, you just haven't unlocked the ability to teach yet

I mean, you're playing on Hard apparently blind, good on you, but that's going happen then

I wiped on Vicar on Hard too because he's a little gotcha ♥♥♥♥♥ design boss, that cost me like 30 minutes to setup the exact same team and retrain them a bit before getting my revenge

Don't grind, this isn't a game designed to grind

Hi. I already have unlocked the train facility. If that is what you meant. I got tech learnt when i have generation shift due to game event. But it seem i don't gain any tech at all if i wipe out and change generation this way. I just curious if my tech will stay and/or my new recruit team will have better status than the recruit before wipe due to global skill levels or not?
(So far, i see all tech of those who wipe already disappear)

I'm pretty sure techs and spells only become relearnable after a timeskip, not when you wipe, LP-kill your emperor or abdicate the throne.

AFAIK, the character who know the skill need to survive to be able to teach it. If your archer/healer die, all their spells, skills and weapon/magic masteries will be lost. that's why the game warn you when you try to delete a skill that isn't registered yet to the techniques teacher back in Avalon. Only way to register seems to be to finish that generation with that specific character alive. Not necessary win it, but the character itself has to survive.
That's exactly why it's better to swap a low LP character instead of letting them die.

I heard people of old days try to learn temptetion from certain boss, and let their party wipe, then come back with female team to win. Then they learn that skill from someone who died later generation though,

I decided to test since I had a save right before finishing child & mu cave.
I removed every 'new' skill from my party (as in skills that aren't in the training hall), and completed the quest and got a timeskip.
Every skill that I removed was still in the training hall.

Granted I did not LP-kill anyone, but seems reasonable to believe that the warning for removing techs that aren't in the training hall is specifically because it means you have to spark it once more if you want it back in the current year.
