So, how do you master abilities?
I've heard you can learn the abilities, then master them but I haven't seen this occur. Is there a point in the game you have to reach before you can do this?

The abilities are class passives that unlock after 30 battles and later I think can become equippable to others, but don't quote me on that.
Some abilities can be earned from quests. I just finished Cumberland with all 3 family alive and earned "Wallflower" that makes that character less targetted by enemies.

I've learned a ton of abilities, none of them are mastered even though I've used the same classes for multiple time skips. I just need someone to tell me at which point you can master abilities, because you most definitely cannot do it immediately.

You master abilities by winning 30 battles (again) when the ability is already learned.

However the feature unlocks a fair bit after you unlock abilities. It's related to territories or heroes defeated I don't remember from the top of my head. I found only one character which has an ability that cannot be mastered up to this point and it's a very particular character with a fairly OP ability so it makes sense (I was actually expecting the ability not to be possible to master).

I'm pretty sure you can know exactly when the feature unlocks by looking at the second page of the menu with all your empire levels, revenue etc. It has a nice chart with all the unlocks in it and I believe the ability unlocks are detailed in there.

I'm guessing you can't master Coppelia's skill, the one that makes you immune to all status effects.

Just to be clear; you can't master abilities until you get to 7 annexed territories.

I imagine that would have to be exclusive to her, and her max LP, since she's a robot. Like seriously, how do you poison a robot?:steammocking:

I imagined that'd be the case being able to do that late game.

Copellia's formation is really good, it gives high status effect resist to the whole party. Some of the deadliest things in this game are attacks that put confusion, etc on the whole group. If you see Copellia pop up as an emperor candidate I'd recommend picking her just for the formation.

I haven't had Coppelia as emperor sadly and I will never since already at last emperor (it went way too fast imho).

And yes she can't be mastered which I find odd I don't think her ability is that strong. Sure some status are a bit annoying but many other abilities are way more useful. There's stuff like HP or BP regen per turn, per attack etc. It's a bit hard to justify when most status are not that debilitating to begin with and there's a spell that remove them on the entire party and heal the party at the same time (plus anyone can fairly easily have access to Physic water if they are not using fire magic).

You can actually master Coppelia's passive ability 'Poker Face' for use on other classes.

I got it by making Coppelia emperor then getting party wiped. Once you pick your next emperor you can find Coppelia's busted up body in the storeroom on the same map as the throne (bottom right corner of the map). Interact with it and you will get the mastered ability and also the 'Wipe Away Your Tears' achievement.

Oh this is really cool. I just hope I can get Coppelia as I have not followed guides much.

It's also interesting to note that you can get Gerard unique ability (+1 to all stats) by examining his portrait in his room with the next emperor once he passed away.

You unlock this feature later on. You can only "Learn" them initially.

So, by learning, means the ability is only used on that character themselves while mastering means it can be equiped by other characters?

If so, does anyone know the requirement for mastering the ability for others to equip it? and when the function can be used? I am in the mid of 2nd Emperor.
