First Choice

Hello.

I've been playing the game for a few days now, and I was wondering... in the first few minutes of the game (in the demo in my case) you have to choose between a female character and a male character called... who are these characters?

Is it the character we'll be playing in the very last part of the game, when we face the final boss? (The Final Emperor in the first version of the game, here: https://saga.fandom.com/wiki/Final_Emperor)

The character who will inherit the abilities unlocked throughout the game with his predecessors?

That character you choose at the beginning is the Final Emperor. When you control that character, it means you are at the last section of the game and need to fight the final boss. You wont get any more emperors if that one dies.

From the old guides on RS2:

- Final Male Emperor is slightly better with weapons (swords, bows, axes, etc)

- Final Female Emperor is slightly better with magic (water, air, fire, earth, etc)

You play as all the classes, around 15-20 you can choose from once you recruit them.
The final emperor is a pre-established character that will become your only choice of main protagonist during the final saga, it can be male or female. All other classes tend to have both gender, but some are gender exclusive.
