Question about Corsair(possible spoilers?)
Hey!

So a bit ago I did a quest concerning the leader of the corsairs, making a deal with them about them keeping the empire ships safe, and then the generation skip happened a bit after.

I played a couple more hours after that, then I looked at a class guide and it said that I would have gotten the class after that quest. The problem is I didn't get it after the generation skip, and in the guide the quest was done in a different way than I did(I didn't knock out the guard and listen in or something along those lines).

So, long story short, I'm worried I missed out on the class and that I have to reload a bunch of progress to go and redo that quest to get it.

Any help is appreciated!

I took a peek at the original game a I am in the same proverbial boat.

Seems that, unless they changed things in the remake, you can't recruit the corsairs if you merely start an alliance with them.

Yeah, you need to force them to submit to get them as a usable class, not just cut a deal.

Based off the original a new quest will eventually start that will let you recruit them, though it was possible to miss it if you sped through the game quickly.

Oh no…I just cut them a deal hoping to get them recruited…hmm I hope I have a save not too far back but that boat dungeon was cool looking but annoying haha. I’m too lazy

Edit: oh wait this happens when you get to town after the boat yeah? I did in the remaster get them to submit when I spoke to the leader in town.

Damn so did I lose this class forever? I followed the quest marks up to meeting with the captain. I choose the 2nd option and then choose the 1st and they join the empire but no class. Could I get the class later or that's it... I hate forever missables... this is my first saga game and I'm enjoying but the though of missing out on characters makes me upset.

Can confirm, something will come up later that will allow you to recruit him.
You'll know when it happens, but it may take a few generations.

If it's like the original game, you only get them right when you first solve the issue when they submit. (You also get a *lot* more revenue that way) It's not like the brawlers/martial artists where there's pros and cons to either way. The only reason not to immediately force a surrender (other than misplaced kindness towards some less-than-considerate folks) is if you wanna do the Messina Mine dungeon -- and even then, if you have an emperor of a Wild class, you can do both, at least in previous versions. (Eavesdrop properly on the group using the Wild option, do the Messina Mine route, refuse his offers, get kicked out, come back through Cape Chevalier)

Can confirm that you can recruit corsairs even after you agree with a deal with them, just got the questline finished (Garon rebellion) and unlocked corsairs in the tavern even though a made a deal with them all throughout, from the mosnter hunt, to the cleaning the ship, to agreeing with the leader

Making a deal with the leader gives less income than telling him off that he's petty and he'll still join you.
