This or Metaphor

I'd say Metaphor cuz it's newer. But since Romancing Saga was never published outside Japan til now to my knowledge, I guess it can be worth a try if you're curious...

Fortunately both games have demos available. So why not try both and see what you prefer right now :=)

If you like Atlus RPG like Persona or SMT in general, Metaphor is a safe bet i'd say.

Currently in the late game of Metaphor and as a JRPG game it is pretty good. The main characters are also good. Only aspect i am not the biggest fan of is the main story. It is not bad by all means but feels mediocre right now. Maybe the remaining parts can change that.
Due to Spoiler i will not dive deeper into the reasoning behind it naturally. See for yourself how you assess it

If you want a simpler story driven experience, even though the story doesn't seem very highly regarded, then Metaphor.

If you want a combat driven RPG that will kick your ass, with a semi-open world flair, then RS2.

You will prefer metaphor probably. SaGa is more nivche, and more weird in its mechanics and stuff. It will also feel more cheap than metaphor. I havent played metaphor yet, but ive heard a lot of good things. If you can only buy 1 game, I would say Metaphor even if I like RS2 a lot personnaly. Metaphor seem like the logical choice

I don't want to start an argument, but why do you say that? I've played all the persona games, even when Tsumi no Batsu was still in japanese. If anything, Persona 1 and 2is/2ep are SJW repellent. You could probably call Ulala a feminist, but she's not the annoying kind because at least she shows vulnerability, same with Maya. Mark's existent in P1 still infuriates SJWs, especially the US version which turned him black and made him speak that way. Alana is a ditzy blonde even in the JP version, Hitler is a boss in P2is, and you get characters like baofu who are chainsmoking computer addicted hacker shut ins. Oh, and a cop joins you too.

Huh? Most of the buyers on Steam of Metaphor are chinese in the first place and they are saying it's that one game that can compete with Wukong in GOTY.

I prefer Romancing Saga2 ‘s art style. Metaphor’s art style is just weird to me. RS2’s combat is not bad at all. Unless you like the story writing in Metaphor, I would recommend you play RS2 over Metaphor.

there is a really good reshade mod on nexus that flattens out a lot of the colour and makes it more like an anime and not this hyper colourful ps2 nonsense it has going on for itself. Otherwise great game.
