Talk to the tavern owner in Yuyan who mentions the Irises. This starts the bard’s quest. Also you must have access to Zemio with the Salamanders around.

You also need to have defeated the Termite Queen and annexed the Savannah.

This is indeed what happened. Meaning unless defeating the Termite Queen makes the castle move, I surmise that I won't be able to meet the Iris until the next time skip.
