democracy3.exe stop working

Hey guys, i just bought the humble to have this game and i can't even start it. It starts to load before i choose the country and the difficulty and simply crash. (democracy2.exe stop working)
Can anyone help?

Exact same problem. No idea what the issue is. I've looked at multiple discussions and there has been nothing useful. Check your debug file My Documents/my games/Democracy 3/debug

states that it is failing to open these files, mod_status.ini and achievement.ini.

I'm not even seeing these files in that folder.

Just saw this pinned post and it worked for me. Give it a try.

\MyDocuments\MyGames\Democracy3\prefs.ini

You can open this using windows notepad or any simple text editor. Then try adding a line at the end that says this:

sound driver = ESOD_NULL

save it, and run the game. There will be no sound, BUT if that fixes crashes for you try replacing it with this:

sound driver = ESOD_WIN_MM

or this

sound driver = ESOD_DIRECT_SOUND

In our experience this has fixed it for some people with random crashing issues. Also make sure your sound card drivers are up to date.

please help i don't have that file in my game folder i only have prefs but not prefs.ini and i can't do any thing HELP PLEASE.
