On this niche type of games only 2 games for me have succed along with Democracy but those 2 games are way more focused on the warfares parts than the politics ones like Democracy, those 2 games are Superpowers 2 and Supreme Ruler 2020 (also Cold War).
Just an hint "Rulers of Nation" that terrible game that i refered before is a part of this serie...
All their ratings from the biggest French videogame site jeuxvideo.com

Have you?
All three of the Geo Political Simulators were brilliant masterpieces that helped redefine the Political Simulation Genre. That encludes the Geo Political Simulator 2 "Rulers of Nations" of which I spent a great deal of time playing and mastering it.
I don't think this is the truth, because reviews for the 3 games in the series have been slightly above average at best.
IGN gave the first game a 5/10:
http://au.ign.com/articles/2008/08/05/geo-political-simulator-review
IGN says that while the game is ambitious and tries to do a lot of things, it ends up being "an ambitious mess of a game." The gameplay category got rated a 5.5/10, stating "There are interesting ideas at work here, but it can be overwhelming and confusing at times."
As did thunderbolt:
http://www.thunderboltgames.com/review/geo-political-simulator
Thunderbolt goes into detail about the confusing mess of menus and "spreadsheets" that plague the game like IGN did, then (as a counter argument of somewhat to Farsight) compares this to the streamlined Democracy 2, stating "Although lightweight in comparison to core gameplay, each decision has its potential pitfalls outlined from the start."
According to Gamefaqs:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/954792-geo-political-simulator/critic
Total PC gaming also gave the game a 5/10, but that site doesn't seem to exist anymore
Next we have the second game, Rulers of Nations.
Strategy Informer gave this a 6.5/10:
http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/rulersofnationsgeopolitcalsimulator2/1314/review.html
Strategy informer point out that the second game has the same identical flaw to the first game, in that it bombards you with information and menus in a user interface that "Frequently stumbles under the sheer weight of information the game attempts to offer you, Rulers of Nations is made immensely more difficult than it needs to be"
Due to the fact that this game is incredibly niche, I can't seem to find other reviews
And finally the third game, Masters of the World:
It is hard to find good reviews for the game, but some users on metacritic have given a good idea: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/masters-of-the-world-geopolitcal-simulator-3
The highest scoring review by users is a 7/10, written by Willsy, stating that the game is decent (while providing no evidence whatsoever to say why) and then talks about how the game is riddled with quite a few bugs but that its okay cause the development team is small, and they decided to make a niche game and not something that could have given them lots more money
The next highest is a 4/10 by cakrit, saying that he loved Democracy 2 and wanted to support more games like it, after having bought the second game in the Geo series, Rulers of Nations. He says that "I did expect certain infantile mistakes to have been resolved by now. I should have known better." He goes on to mention about the abhorrent feedback the game presents you with and then claims that the simulation is broken, saying "The simulation engine is so deeply faulted, that it's not really worth trying to figure out what they got right and what they got wrong. At the end, you feel that the reason you never get any advice on the actions you are considering, is that even the game creators have no clue as to what is actually going to happen."
The final review is by kornel, giving the game a 0/10, comparing the game to Europa Universalis 3 and saying it was a better game in terms of gameplay and graphics. His review also seems to lack some actual reasons as to why the game sucks.
These are cold hard facts ripped straight from the internet. While still opinions, it seems the opinion of the 3 games is relatively consistent across the board; the games are all decent simulators with badly designed interfaces and poor feedback, which lets the games down. I find it hard to call these masterpieces when not a single other person I can find has said even something remotely similar. Heck, I'm still looking for something better than "It's a decent game," but nobody seems to think that this is the case.
Sure, unlike you, who lies around and says alot of bs, i rly bought and played the game back in the time and i still have my activation mail. ;)

Like we says in France: "Il faut tourner sept fois sa langue dans sa bouche avant de parler"
Now this is accurate.
@OneFlaw good review but you forgot to said that the game is actually cripled with bugs and unstable on long parties that make the game barely playable, when in democracy at least its very stable and actualy still don't have seen any bugs so far.
Like i said on my first post if we are looking on good Geopolitical games that rly works there are only Superpowers 2 (bit old but still working good and fun to play) and the Supreme Ruller franchise along with the Democracy one.
Never said it was not Buggy, It has far more moving Variables and parts then any other Geo-Political game by far. It's also based off of real life, It's the closest you'll get to a Real Political simulator. It does need to be adjusted a bit though and some of the complexity needs to go. This game here is more then likely far easier then Masters of the World.
Democracy 3 is a Government Simulation Game. Having said that, here is a Wikipedia Article on Government Simulation Games: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_simulation_game
