2. When the revs hit the green zone, press the appropriate gear you want to shift into. It's almost always one more than the gear you're currently in (see 1.).
3. To remove all doubt, if the tacho says you're in N, click the 1 button on the screen.
If it says you're in 1, click 2.
If it says you're in 2, click 3.
If it says you're in 3, click 4.
If it says you're in 4, click 5.
If it says you're in reverse, you broke something and a nice police office should visit your house and take away your licence.
I don't think any of the minigames have downshifting in them at the moment, so it's just shifting into the next gear, like you would when driving a manual or semi-auto car.
