Steam Cloud made the sale for me, cannot count how many times I had to redo my team because I forgot to back them up as I format a pc ;p

I can relate. I wish I had all my old saves. They're long since gone.

Well... you need Steam installed to run the Steam version, I would assume. You don't need anything installed but the game itself to play the GOG version.

Also, Steam version will be found for, like, 80% off in a few months, while GOG's won't.

The biggest difference I've seen is that Night Dive is credited as the publisher of the Steam version, while Gamepot is the publisher of the GOG version.

Yea, but the Wizardry licence changes hands more often than i change socks.

I always go GOG when I can because then everyone in my household can play the game. If I buy it on steam only one person has access to it.

I buy it on Steam. Benefits of being the only person in my family that's interested in gaming on the PC, I guess.

I've already grabbed the GOG build when they put it on sale (about two weeks ago), and I'm for the GOG one. The regular price tag is the same, you don't have the Steam client to run in order to install and launch the game, and, truth be told, the GOG team is just better at supporting the old titles (they weren't initially named Good Old Games for nothing). I remember the NWN 2 case: the Steam build was so buggy bordering on unplayability, that they've pulled it off the shell, the GOG one is OK.

Huh? That's not why it was pulled? It was pulled with all the other sites because the licensing changed hands, and Steam hasn't resecured it, although there have been signs of the entire D&D collection making it here eventually (NWN, Baldur's gate (older ones), Icewind Dale etc).

I still have the NWN2 from Steam and it's always worked fine for me.

You're probably thinking of another game. NWN2 didn't have, and still doesn't have, any particular issues. The Steam versions works as well as any other version. It was pulled due to license issues when the franchise changed hands.

Okay, so if people can stop going on about whether they want to have it on Steam for themselves or GoG to share... are there any ACTUAL differences?

Difference patches?
Any resolution changes?
Any technical issues that vary between them?

You know, stuff that would actually matter.

Apparently the Steam version has cloud sync for your save games. I have the GOG version, but I could see myself buying this again at a steep discount just for that feature.

I only have the GOG versions, but from reading forum posts here the Steam version seems to have the same important extras (manuals, cluebooks, both Wiz7 versions) except possibly the soundtracks. At least i havn't seen anyone mention the soundtracks. No clue if you get the wallpapers/forum avatars. Or the maps... havn't seen them discussed here either.
