Vendor bug?
I'm trying to buy musket balls from Kunar, but he doesn't have any in stock and his inventory isn't refreshing. I camp 3 consecutive times so 24 hours passes, then I check back, but he has exactly what he had in stock before. I've tried this a dozen times. I've saved and loaded, left the zone, but still no luck. What's going on, and can it be fixed?

Earlier in the game, I think the same thing happened to Crock, but I didn't NEED anything from him like I need more ammo, so I didn't keep trying obsessively.

I have a gut feeling this vendor is based on level, so until you level up, it may not have any new items.

Not 100% on this tho, hopefully some other knowledgeable folk will chime in....

I wonder (as the wiz8 rookie that I am) if vendors doesn't have to have something exiting their shop in order for something new to spawn. Otherwise their stock would be evergrowing?

What I'm trying to say is; Perhaps you should try and buy something that's cheap and that you don't need (arrows for instance), rest and come back and see if anything new has spawned. You can always sell the arrows back and take a minimal loss.

But I don't know to be honest. Just a thought.

Thanks for the replies.
Seewhyseeoh: Good thought; I'll try leveling up and see if that changes things.
Probe: Another good suggestion... So good that I tried it myself earlier, and it didn't work.

Get 99 Communication and you get a 1:1 return on items bought like what i did. Beware though, items you sell with disappear after a certain time. And vendors reach a point where they no longer restock at all.

I store pretty much every item in the game in various chests in Arnika's Inn.

Yup, what you say is true indeed.

Well, I leveled up and check Crock and Kunar; still no restock. Shoot. I think I can kiss modern weapons and Crock's sweet level 4 spells goodbye.

Hello.

As darkcecil13 said....you must purchase items from the vendor to force the vendor to restock. Otherwise you will only see a very small change in the stock of items that they sell. This is the only way to make vendors like Crock sell those coveted spellbooks and items.

And yes. A vendor will restock every 24 hours. (3 full resting periods) The vendor may not restock everything in one rest period. This gives an illusion that they never restock....but they will. You may have to do this multiple times before you are offered the item you are looking for.

My suggestion is to buy as much of the cheap stuff as possible. Then rest 3 times to force a restock. This is much easier if you have an alchemist of some sort since selling potions will make you a fortune.

Happy hunting.

Clear out all of the low-end ammo from vendors who stock that, since it quickly clutters up their inventory and causes them to stop restocking due to hitting their limit. You can use a chest somewhere to stash it all if you don't want to leave it on the floor.
