Solo Gadgeteer Advice
Never really gotten very far with a solo char. Recently thought I'd try out a solo gadgeteer. Was hoping for some build advice from the experts here? Or you know, anyone who has even managed to get to Arnika with a solo char. Playing on normal difficulty.

* Went with mook for stats, resistances.

* After a couple abortive attempts, I decided that omnigun just can't carry you through the monastery (unless one is maybe really skilled at running away?). So I decided to start out as rogue for better, more reliable starting eq. Plan is to max stealth at lvl 2, then switch to gadgeteer and stick with it.

* I'm sure actual spellcasting would be nice but I don't want to multiclass further. And kinda defeats the point of the char.

* Want to eventually switch to omnigun focus.

* Plan is to max Dex and Speed first, then Vitality...and maybe Senses for Eagle Eye? Not really sure how necessary this is. Nor whether reflexion is possibly overkill on top of stealth. Maybe Piety would be a good choice for more stamina and Iron Will on a solo char?

* Started out putting points into Throwing/Slings and Artifacts to help me get through the monastery. Open to alternatives?

* I'm a little worried about making money as a solo char, since I anticipate needing lots of scrolls, etc, to deal with the lack of soul/elem shield. But I'm not sure there ARE scrolls of either. So - advice on making money without Alchemy / Pickpocketing? Will I even need to worry with only one character to equip? And how will I deal with the lack of energy shields?

somebody probably knows how. but perhaps you need a support group to get along for a bit and then dismiss them.

Huh? it's easy enough to cheese the early game with max stealth.

Stamina issues have lead me to prioritize Vitality over Dex since I DO have max stealth.

Your request for advice is not being ignored, but for many years now I have been focused on full parties. Solo runs, which necessarily heavily depend upon repetitive training, and some class switching, are their own discipline.

A deeply respected on this board expert player called CeterumCenseo wrote some solo guides that are here on this board. While those may not directly answer your request for advice, they might give you ideas that you can parallel for use in your project.

Wishing you the best of luck and gaming...

You have to carefully farm enemies that you're able to defeat is the shortest possible, unglamorous answer. Biogoo's YouTube channel shows some solo runs you can take inspiration from.

Yeah, I've noticed that it's VERY easy to outpace your fighting skills if you're not careful. Since more difficult monsters spawn based on party level; and the xp gain while solo is so high.

Just finished Arnika, heading to Trynton / Marten's Bluff for some gadgets. Levelled up to 10, which might have been a mistake. Sadly my damage output is awful atm. Maybe should have prioritized STR over VIT instead. Gadgeteer really isn't a good solo class. Omnigun is terrible in the early game. And while gadgets are great, the stamina loss from using them is waaaay too high to make them very practical in a solo game (being balanced around use in a full party where combats don't last forever and a day). At least at my level. Has been pretty fun murdering things with artifacts though, when I can get my hands on them reliably.

I'll second Biogoo's channel--his solo fairy psionic on Ironman is a sight to behold

Biogoo is very unlikely to level past level 3.

I was going to say solo gadgeteer seems like a really bad choice but didn't want to be too pessimistic.

Sure, but they are all bad choices. Playing solos is a bad choice. :steamhappy:

Some work much better than others solo though. Monk and Ninja are both comparatively easy, for example, AFAICT.

Without Class Change not possible ^^ I would first spend some Levels as Ninja/Monk and max Stealth/Crtical Strike. Then switch to Gadgeteer but only as many Ranks that You need for the Gadgets. Then Switch to Fighter Class. You have Stealth, Critical Strike, Double Melee Damage and the Best Armors that also have High Stamina Regeneration.
