I haven't even finished the game yet, let alone gone with anything less than a full party. But from other threads I've learned the bard can be a decent fighter (and gives you a little help early on with lockpicking). Samurai was just for the challenge (I'm such a scared type I'd probably gone Fighter instead).
Just a suggestion. Keep us updated on the progress whatever you go with. I always enjoy reading other ppl's experiences with the game.
I just like the idea of having a group that progresses faster and where every member really feels very crucial. there is no wiggle room in the 4 man party.
Thats a good idea for the bard. The samurai....Im not sure. I think it wouldnt be the worst, but a samurai is the definition of raw offensive power, and im not sure I want another sword user on top of the bard, and id rather have the bard.
Funny I was the opposite. I like the Samurai as a pure dps monster to minimize healing needed. I never really like Bards, but love Mooks so there you are. You loose the tanky fighter but if the dps is high enough and heals are good you don't need a tank (for the most part).
Yeah I ended up going with a Ninja to fill out the party if I remember correctly.
Ive been very busy in real life, so my time to progress the party has been incredibly limited. However, I found that my ninja was having insane success early (given that its a farie ninja, which normally trails in contribution in any party i generall create) But was actually leading with its early contributions this time around, which feels quite promising.
The Bard and Valk are doing their jobs. The only real threat right now (upper monastary/arn-tryn road) is when people manage to make moves on my bishop or ninja even while my front line is in tact (aka crabs and people with attacks that do significant physical damage from a range). The ninja is currently behind the bard and valk, since the staff its currently using is capable of reaching over the front line.
The cane of corpus doesnt reach so the ninja will have to take front line eventually.
