How do I use the Viola D'amore?

Its says its non-combat, but whenever I try to use it in non-combat I get an error message.

You use it during a conversation with somebody. There a box called "magic" (IIRC). Press that, choose the bard and use the instrument to charm the person you're talking to.

Use it constantly, by the way. Easiest way to level your music to max.

if u using music constantly on bard,u`l get max music on level 13 or 14 ,quite easy tho.
