helm of serenity as a solo character?

i'm a bit confused here. i read a lot about people beating this game as a solo character, but how do you get the helm of serenity?
is that not necessary to beat the game?
here's the problem. you have to grab the idol in martens bluff and then crock kidnaps someone. if you are solo, he kidnaps you and . . .oops, game over,. .

also, without the helm, you can hold the DD in your cursor if you pick it up after killing Marten allowing you to cast your Return to the temple where it goes. You have to put it in the chest as Alty won't talk if your hand is full, so you do end up insane, but able to set the DD and cure yourself before continuing

Also also, you can let crock live as a solo by picking up RSF and continuing the game as the droid when crock kidnaps you.

ok, yeah, i didn't think of that, just killing thr guy.
as for the companion characters, i thought i read somewhere that they can't get kidnapped by crock and if you get kidnapped, they just say soemthign like "welp, that's that" and then they leave the party. .

but anyway, thnaks for the tip. i'm off on a trip now. . aaand away i go, . . killing again. . .

it works with RFS because he will go anywhere. I have done it.

but then i have to fight brekek solo as a level 8 monk. . .or spend time leveling him up. killing crock seems easier, and crock is a dbag anyway

yah i agree. When i did it, it was to finish the game as RFS, so i did not kill Brekek
