Bad news for the superman spell lovers
Using peddroelms script to track skill increase chances, I noticed that the superman spell stat boost has no effect on it.
I guess it is safe to assume that this will hold true for any other stat boost as well. Does this mean that the brilliant helm +20 INT is utterly useless?

None of the stat boosts increase the chances when mini skill upgrade is rolled (the base values for the the average of the controlling attributes are used not the buffed values .. ) .. Otherwise the superman remains a very sweet combat attribute boosting spell + STR / DEX/SEN/SPD...

Yeah, that was originally claimed by Silicoid and verified by other investigations a few months ago.

Most players seem to agree that the buffs should matter, but apparently they do not.

I also tend to put Philosopher's Cloaks and Brilliant helms on my Bard and tend to feel it helping increases, but it is not a strong feeling (like the perceived frequency of shield hits) and appears to be wrong. Maybe the shield hit frequency perception is wrong, too (shrug), but shields do seem to be incredibly effective and when worn and Shield Skill is pushed. It might just be a perception that its effectiveness is more than the ratio.

Eh, if they don’t count towards expert skills, they probably shouldn’t matter for the speed of raising regular skills. Still unfortunate, though to be honest I had never even thought of that particular aspect being a thing. Can’t miss what you didn’t know about! :steammocking:

On the other hand, I don’t love super man buff too much anyway since there’s a bug that interferes with haste. I find haste to be much more valuable especially since it’s party wide.
