Skip Rapax Rift

Totally forgot how to do this. I remember running through the lava, but can't remember where from or where to.
Please help!

There are a few shortcuts and areas which need not be visited: Rafe, Lavalord, El Dorado, High Priestess.

Shortest way through the Rift imv is turn right at the entrance, follow the way uphill. Beyond the bridge are rooms. Behind the door with the 8-tumbler lock, iirc, is a key, go back, down, left of the door into the cave, there you need to cross lava, after solving a small puzzle, to get into the main tunnel. follow up, open the door with the key, move on to the 2 teleporters, one of them takes you down, turn left and move on to the Courtyard.

I would be interested to read if there was a shorter way.

I remember running through the lava from the side you start on to the side with the lavalord. There was a small section of land you could bounce upwards and forwards from. It was a glitch. I thought it might have been a false memory so I tried looking it up and did find a brief mention of it here:

Thanks for pointing me to the thread. I remember the discussion, it inspired me for my own no-sleep party.

Biogoo has a couple of videos on youtube from his speedruns, he probably used that shortcut.

You don't . I watched one of his speedruns. You use a whole buncha portals to avoid the conversation about the bomb, and then you stroll right past the Dark Savant.

I am so amazed at all the tricks you have collected. Back in 02 i started looking for more efficient ways to Ascend, though i never tried to go fast because i have to much fun training everything up to max. Your route is much like the one i settled on with the few tricks i did know: Umpani first after Monastery, I didn't know about BillW's back door, but on Patch 1.1 Pickpocket allowed you to get everything from each vendor's drop list, including the key to the teleporter room. (i played with all the patches as they came out, and after PP was nerfed i just killed Kunar for the key and flag after camp-shopping everything else i wanted)

Sometimes i skipped the Idol bit completely and used a Portal at the Knowledge temple and kept the DD in my hand. Other times i killed Crock to avoid the kidnapping (by this time most of my parties were only 1-3 members--really bad to lose any, unless you want to play as solo RFS)

I skipped Rapax Rift completely a few times, by remaining ignorant of the Tower, but i really like the gear Ferro has and also killing Al-S twice is fun.


But you are really amazing, with both game-time and play-time speed, as well as incidentally the lowest-level Ascensions ever.
