Any chance to play in full screen smoothly ?
2) AUTOMAP is not an issue. There is an INCLUDED CLUEBOOK PDF file that has ALL THE MAPS for you, pretty much. So just look for those in the directory where it is. It is in the Bonus Content subdirectory to Wizard 7 folder, all under your Steam installation. You can go into your Steam Games Library, bring up the properties to that game via right click, find the tab from those shown that gives you the option to view the Local Files for that game, pick that button, see files, learn more about your Steam files, etc).
You really ought to know this already. Basically it is going down the path, which varies where you installed Steam, but from STEAM --> STEAMAPPS--> COMMON-->WIZARDRY 7 --> BONUS CONTENT.
3) You've got BOTH VERSIONS, DOS and GOLD VERSION. You've got copies of the Manuals in PDF. You've got ClueBook PDF.
4) The DOS version runs in DOSBOX which emulates DOS in your Windows Operating system.
NOTE:
WORST CASE: If you simply read all the stuff that the DOSBOX readme and manuals for DOSBOX teach, you will be able to customize the whole thing, and be able to launch it manually via DOSBOX. Since it has been years since I did so, but had it already configured, I don't recall exactly how to do it. But once you learn DOSBOX , you can launch tons of old games to work in it, and know how to customize it all.
5) You can always read the Gog forums for tips. You can read the DOSBOX website for tips. You can search the Steam forums, there may be tips there. If you are on the Steam Discussions page, at the top of your screen you should also see Guides listed, that will provide 1 guide by a user/fan that may help you somewhat (there are 3 guides, I'm guessing only one goes into configuration).
I don't have much time for this nowadays as I work for a living. But if I could do it, you sure can. Worse case you read and learn. Since the knowledge will transfer and be usable for all games playable in DOSBOX from this era, it can pay off. I have off in 2 days I'll try and update if I find the info, but I'm not going to kill myself doing this, as I lost many years of my life doing this in the past, helping others. And I'm pretty damn old to spend much of my life on this anymore.
