Crossbow and arrows. Help!
I have Light Crossbow equipped on my Bard as Primary weapon (who is in the back right slot) and he has 100 Elm arrows. It shows the crossbow equipped but the arrows are greyed out. Anytime I am in combat, it does not give me an option to "fight" with my bard so I can never use my crossbow.

I checked that a Human Bard can use this weapon. I tried merging bow with arrows, that doesn't work. Elm Arrows are showing as a "Secondary" weapon but it doesn't give me the option to equip them. Anyone know how this works?

Crossbows use Bolts, not Arrows. Wrong ammo type.

ohhh...okay. . I found a short bow and works with the arrows. Now off to find some bolts.

This game gets more fun as you figure stuff out. I only got this because it was basically free with Wiz8 during a holiday flash sale. Since saves transfer between 6,7,8 going to complete 6 and 7 before 8. Can't wait to see how everything progresses. Thanks for your help!!

It gets....brutal, specially if you don't want anyone to die. You'll reload....a lot...I think Crossbow ammo is called Quarrels not sure though.

Yes. Quarrels. I need to go get some from Quequeg, or whatever his name is. Trying to find decoder ring right now. I'm playing with the Cosmic Forge Editor so my rolls where higher to make it less time consuming to roll a good character. They are not maxed out but I think it fixed the spell bug and CC bug, also. I'm just trying to get from 6-8, in minimal time possible but from what I've read, could be months and a lot of reloads. :( Mine as well enjoy it for what it is.
Spell Bug? CC Bug...I thought the CC bug was fixed for offical release...well, I dealt with it. haha

No, CC bug is still in.

Starting with high stats is useful for setting up your first class change, but it's not going to make or break your late game. You lose all but the minimum stats for a class when you change classes, so you'll lose a lot of those stats when you go through your first class change. And if your thinking then you should just pick a great class and stay the whole game.... well, then you will be seriously lacking in power by the end game. The game is designed for you to class change at least once or twice with each character to accumulate extra skill points.

Also, magic regen is set by your starting class, and won't change when you change classes. That means mage, psion, priest, and alchemist will have good magic regen for their whole careers, but the rest will be crap. Those classes make good starting classes for anyone you want throwing a lot of magic, but are bad late game classes due to low stats and combat gains as they level.

If you download the Cosmic Forge Editor it has 2 fixes included. CC bug and level 7 magic bug.
Also it fixes mana and stamina regen. It's sort of a "cheat", as far as giving you a better chance of rolling high characters in the beginning but to me makes the game more bearable. I'm a very hardcore gamer but I have my limits. Getting rid of the bugs, being able to pull up a real-time map and not having to spend 2 hours+ to roll 6 good characters just makes the game better, in my opinion. My current party consists of a Female Valkyrie, Lizard Samurai, Felpurr Ninja, human Bard, elf Mage and gnome priest. We are rockin and rollin.

http://mad-god.webs.com/downloads.htm Follow instructions. Very easy install and makes the game much more user-friendly and playable.

I actually didn't bother fixing the CC bug since I used the high starting stats to establish a high carry capacity while creating my characters. The high starting stats are useful for things like that but if you use class change, than it ends up losing it's effect. Your stats get dropped to the minimum for your new class when you change.

Why do you have to do a class change and when is it recommended? I still don't understand this aspect of the game. I'm not gonna' lie. I mainly bought this game to play Wizardry8 but I figured I would do 6 & 7 first. I didn't know this game was going to be so deep and time intensive. I enjoy it but it's not a game I would have normally purchased, if it didn't come "free with 8.

Any tips on how to get through this game as efficiently and quickly as possible would be GREATLY appreciated. I keep getting lost, even with Cosmic Maps enabled and I don't understand the character change stuff. Help! :)
You have to use "Direction" to get any use out of maps.

I never class changed and I still did just fine, only had one character die and having all 18's for almost every stat...is pretty awesome. Haha
