Wizardry 6: Bane of the Cosmic Forge

Wiz 6 Copy Protection
I'm really enjoying playing Wizardry 6 again. But I really don't like that I have to pass a copy protection scheme every time I load a save game! Is this necessary?

Hi there
i am playing the german Version of the Game and have the Problem that in this Version the Copy Protection is not removed. But the real Problem is, that the Code Table is not available.
I also don't know how i can manage to install the english Version.

Hi Pinguin, thanks for the tip. Workt well.
Ahahhah! Code tables. Code wheels. Manuals with codes hidden in them. Hilarity abounds.

Imagine a modern game with a 130 page manual.
Younger gamers may not be familiar with game manuals - but they know all about license agreements. :D

Oh yes, I diligently bought all of those goldbox games and played them to death, code wheels/manuals/etc. and all. It was amazing fun starting a group of single class characters in PoR and then switching every one of them to a new class with each successive game I ported them into. By Pools of Darkness I had an entire team of seriously badass fighter/mage/cleric/thief four-class dudes who would ALL throw fireballs, missiles, heal, and beat the crap out of everything while backstabbing them.

I wish they would sell those games somewhere again, they are impossible to find except on ebay or something. There's no current licensing for them sadly, let alone versions that would run on modern machines.

There's also the problem of no one even having floppy drives in their computer anymore, 5 1/4 or 3.5.

Lol yeah but DOSBOX always virus's computers through the software -- never heard one success story -- if you download just one game or two maybe -- I just tried using it again downloaded Wizardry one and none of the anti virus software caught the new astromenda 2.0 bug -- annoying bug -- hard to get rid of -- imbeds in all your servers, history, chrome, registrys, explorer, bing --- I got explorer clean no luck with Chrome yet--constantly watch rss feeds and anti spy software to make sure no one is scamming my data -- having a pro come in a few days -- Did find so many marketing company embedded bugs -- got rid of them all

Thats why I never save any credit card info on any game server or utility payments -- some good hackers out there - Prepaid Visas for me
