What are your PC specs? Your GPU is important. If it is unable to run UE5 games, then the lightning won't load at all. This is unfixable, only a new GPU will help.
I think it's probably fixable from the DEVS end (if they give a hoot XD). I have encountered this problem with other games like Liminalcore that also uses UE5. I have a PC that uses an APU with integrated graphics. And many here would claim that cuts you out. However Backrooms: LOST TAPE also uses UE5, but works just fine even on my supposedly insufficient APU. This would suggest that it could be fixed on the DEVS end. I see many people mentioning this issue. And the solution dosnt have to be to drop a few hundred more dollars to play a 10 dollar game.
That's not the problem of UE5 itself, you see. The game uses real-time lightning system in Dreampools level. That's why Eternal Suburbia may still work for you, but with incorrect dynamic lightning. Dreampools uses UE5's Lumen lightning, and this is unfixable. Only if dev will decide to add a prebaked light or a different lightning system, which will probably look atrocious with given environments - this is one of the solutions, still.
So yeah, I agree with you. By the way, this is often a glitch, that happens on new RTX GPUs, like RTX3090 - some people report having similar issue even on compatible devices. So yeah, it definitely needs to be fixed
The problem is that Valentine (dev) is kinda 'unclear', if you can say so? I was messaging him in order to know the song from the oldest demo version. It recently got replaced, soon after the release. I was told to FORGET IT. The song kinda sounds like something by Caretaker, but all efforts to find it were in vain. Community does not know the answer either. Valentine also refuses to answer to other technical questions, similar to the problem of lightning system and so on.
He refuses to add in-depth settings into the game and insists on VHS mode, and the sound of the tape. People were asking him to remove it, but he says that it will never happen. Something makes me believe that he won't bother to use a different lightning system (yet, it is used in Eternal Suburbia). We're not the first people to ask for a solution, but we either get ignored or asked to change our PCs. That's why I told you that it was 'unfixable' from the very beginning
We set the minimum specs based on what is required to deliver the intended experience, and while we truly regret that not everyone can run the game, the vast majority of Steam users meet these requirements. This is supported by the Steam Hardware Survey, which shows that most players have compatible hardware.
We appreciate the feedback and understand the frustration, but changing the lighting system would compromise the game's artistic vision and require significant reworking. Thank you for your understanding.
But im really enjoying the suburbia level so far though! And do hope the other levels will be playable for me when they are available.
