I do understand. It shouldn't be this much of a faff for a game that is perfectly suited to the Deck.
I've tried a few of the older Disney games on the Deck and it's only Brave and Alice In Wonderland that have been without issue. Brave was a surprisingly entertaining twin stick shooter. Just needed achievements.
I have been playing other Disney games as well. So far almost every Disney game worked that I own, at least with GE proton. Toy story 3, Tron Evolution, Disney Universe, Alice in Wonderland and Cars 2 are all working great. It's only Epic Mickey 2 that has the green ui problem

The game runs perfect on first launch this way, sound/video and controls are all working. No issues at all, it even displays at a perfect resolution without black borders.
Edit: I added some more details, so OP - rest assured this game works perfectly.
Annoying—how else can I try to fix it? And without putting on an SD card
