Is this port worth buying, honestly?
Genuine question. I am playing the first one on Dolphin, there's a huge discount on Fanatical for this sequel, and I've seen all the problems this port has, no co-op, issues launching, softlocks, and I doubt I can get my Pro Controller's gyro to work with it. I can run Cemu pretty good, so emulation of the Wii U version would not be an issue. Buying it on Steam would also not be a problem, and I would love to have my progress saved. Is this port worth buying, considering emulation of the Wii U is a thing?

This port is playable, but pretty shabby as far as console ports go. It runs at a solid capped 30fps on basically anything, so you don't really need to worry about framerate performance like you would on some of the console releases. It only supports one player though, meaning Oswald is not playable. For controls, there's probably some sort of hacky way to map pro controller gyro to the mouse with Steam's controller settings, but it would take some tinkering. The main issue with this port is the fact that it's somewhat buggy. While some have completed the game without any issues, people post in here fairly often about the game crashing on launch or during particularly troublesome cutscenes. There are some hacky workarounds, but it's not ideal.

Ultimately, I'd play this game on a console if you can. If you insist on playing on PC, this version is playable and it's possible you'd have no issues. The game also runs great in Dolphin, but keep in mind I've noticed some weird lighting issues and poor performance in Cemu.

I've been messing around with gyro on PC for a couple months now, most games don't really like to have a controller being used while a mouse moves the camera, what usually happens in the best case scenario is the on-screen button guides switching between gamepad inputs and keyboard inputs, worst case scenario either the pad stops working or the mouse is disabled. I don't know if EM2 would do any of this, any info, maybe from the Deck community, would be lovely.

If there are no ways to make the PC port go to 60 fps and it's buggy af, I might just stick with Cemu, my Pc is powerful enough to emulate the Wii U without problems or slowdowns even on heavier games.

Personally I suggest to play the ps3 version because of the great quality textures
