How do you pick your mech prematch if its taken?

everytime i play my main gets picked over me yet obviously there is a tech used because im always the one losing out on the pick.

Near "matchmake" button, there is a "Default striker" button. Click and it will give you option to pick which mechs you would like to play. By default it picks all of them, so if you want to play just 1, you need to remove others.
When game looking for a match, it will check this list for every player and compile a team of people with enough options, so everyone get to pick something.
