The problem isn't the selling of bp itself. Try reading the entire comment. whats so hard to understand?

everything else about the game is unnecessarily awful (except the character creator of course)
i believe negative reviews are reviews of despair. Sadness that there is an actually amazing game right before us, that is covered up with so much bad. People desperately want to play that game.
CRY BABIES that can NOT purchase INFERNO MECHA is the reason for bad reviews. PAY to WIN!

This has not been my experience. First, you can itemize against beam damage with mods and mech selection. Tricera, Welkin, Alysnes, and panther all have shields that can block it, Welkin and Skyraider have smoke that block it, Narukami and Hurricane can juke them with stealth and decoys, falcon and Aquila can clear lock-ons by dodging, which makes them almost useless, and is the main thing that lets me tank and wipe parties with Aquila.
Second, I've wiped many squads with an Aquila, Narukami, or Falcon, but I usually do it by swapping back and forth between my modular weapons and mech abilities, I don't think you get enough damage to kill a whole team with just your modulars unless they build as squishy as possible and can't dodge at all.
Third, Falcon and stego both have burst damage, I see them regularly using abilities, including offensive abilities in Mashmak, not just beam autocannons. Same for Narukami and Aquila, though I dunno if you count them, since they use beam cannons by default.
I think the actual problem with the game is the cost of upgrading modular weapons is too high. I think if it was lower, more people would be willing to experiment, and we'd see more diverse strategies, it's just the beam autocannon is the newb tube, and nobody can afford anything else, or wants to grind others out when they're just going to wipe everything in 3 days.
I mean, that's just how an efficient team works though. It's not that it's copying overwatch by having those roles, or that those are even hard, enforced roles in the game. The strikers just have different strengths and weaknesses, and putting them together in certian combinations will be more successful than others. If everybody plays DPS, (like they always seem to in my matches!), and there's nobody to heal or tank, you'll lose almost every time to a team that can survive the initial bursts of damage and focus your squishy team down.
I don't understand what the alternative would be. All the mechs being the same, except for visual changes? I wouldn't hate something like that, tbh, but it'd be a totally different type of game.
I don't know if the reviews are totally deserved, but I do have incredibly mixed feeling about this game. Evaluating the gameplay alone, I've had more fun with it than any other game in a long time. I will be really upset if poor management and marketing end up killing it.
Still locked as my go-to mp game until it dies, but if they don't fix the progression and monetization/grind, it sure will die fast. Like Gundam Evo.
