once you it 60 or so credit people wont have to deal with you
In the Hanger screen, right above the "Strike" button, there is a button that says "Set Default Strikers".
That opens a menu letting you select which Strikers you want priority for. If you only have one checked off in that list, you always have that one selected when you join a match.
It literally has nothing to do with this. It's all in the Default Strikers setup. Otherwise if two people have the same mech picked it's whoever has only that as priority or random.
I see it all the time: the mech I lock in in Default Strikers is piloted by someone else on the splash and before the screen even loads they're shunted to another mech. (Edit: And only once the other way around because I didn't have my Default Strikers set up properly and I now do.)
For those struggling with this issue: make sure you set your Default Striker for all different game modes you are playing. Each mode and it's submodes have their own selections. The game does tell you though that narrowing your striker selection will impact matchmaking.
I would even leave the match to allow someone to backfill at the start but I'm not able to.
