The most fun part of this game was character customization. Now it is locked behind a pay wall. WTF! (body customization, not the accessories or outfits)
If you watch the YT video about Mecha Break, it will tell you first of all that this game has great customization. The fun of this game is basically 2 parts: customizing your pilot and customizing your mech, and then you play with that. But now the first part is soft locked. That is like a half of the game is dead.

it unlocks at level 9 and then tells you it costs 380 corite every time you want to change your character when you go to do it.

as stated previously, it's not the free basic currency (which is a grind once you get a couple levels in), it's the corite which you can get in random amounts (usually 10-20) from maintenance boxes which is advertised as an event drop. This appears to be the intended paid currency.

Idk, the monetization doesnt seem that bad to me at all. The extraction mode is pretty fun too and can be challenging. Support mechs are gonna be so appreciated. I think the biggest struggle right now is keeping track of your teammates.

The review bombing mostly came from China. Sort the reviews by countries and you'll see. Apparently CN servers were having a bad time at Open beta launch, and were open at an inconvenient time for them. And they also saw the western servers were fine, so they thought the west was getting preferential treatment.

Chinese Gamers get extremely visceral when they think the west gets better treatment, regardless if it was intentional or not. If you think us western gamers are unhinged, just know that the CN gaming side is a whole different kind of crazy. Plenty of stories to go around, like attempting to assassinate a CEO just because the west got an exclusive skin for a gacha game.

Don't follow Chinese gamer's behavior by becoming an unhinged asshat. Stop it. Be normal.

maintenance boxes are an event drop, pretty sure corite is going to be the paid currency which means this ♥♥♥♥ isn't going to be free and easy to get, and having basic features behind a currency wall in beta is not a good sign for things to come.
