even if he did the anti cheat won't stop him lol, all it does is pose greater security risks to us. recent example: a recent COD update has seen people get blue screened and some have their PC's fried because of an issue with their kernel level anti-cheat. COD still has plenty of cheaters. its like DRM, the game still gets broken and pirated, all it does is make the legit copies run worse than they should, sometimes pushing people past the bar of being able to play it well and in some cases making offline play an issue when it throws a fit and wants to re-verify its legit. Companies are in their right to do these things but they aren't hitting the root cause of it, and are in and reactionary arms race so they will lose eventually. with the nature of their fight when they do lose they likely won't be able to recover it properly. but hey it can be worse, it could be like a certain popular store having its online ordering service with client facing security such that you have to fight a war to order something and might as well go elsewhere.

Has there been any evidence that it's spyware?

Dude... It's Kernel Level. It can access Memory, Processes, File system, Network traffic and more. You think anyone involved with that software will tell you how they use the data they acquired? Do you think they're regulated? They aren't. Nobody will ever tell you but do you blindly trust anyone with that kind of data? Value your privacy a bit more. At least in the west they're bound by laws and regulations. Over there? Not so much.

Kernel level Anti-cheat is actually quite common in most chinese video games. Pretty sure Black Myth Wukong had it too, marvel Rivals has it.

Fun fact, the same argument for why kernel level anti-cheat isn't safe is being used by both legitimate gamers and large numbers of the USA Trump Administration as to why Tariffs and embargo's on chinese software products are needed.

I just don't want some random company that is barely if at all regulated, having access to my entire PC. Like even if you have "nothing to hide" why allow it? If people want to live their life like an open book for anyone to snoop into go ahead but... damn that's not the way to go.

Its common in most western games too, or are going to pretend Microsoft and Master chief collection doesnt have it? Squad? Dayz? Fortnite? People act like they dont know what the existence of battle eye, easy anti cheat is, are some of the two biggest named for multiplayer protection.

Like what planet do yall selectively think you live on?

If you play any of the top games they have same anti-cheat. Even Elden ring has it.

Asian, almost all Korean, Japanese and Chinese games use these. Strangely it's never an issue.

For me the disappointment is that the Anti-Cheat breaks Linux support. Guess I won't be playing.
