I miss the days of die repeatedly, git gud, and die repeatedly some more as you learn.
I did notice during challenges that they have different levels of ai controlled mechs from reallly easy to crazy hard. Harder than fighting players in a lot of cases.
Easy to get mvp, easy to get 80%+ win percentage. When you're feeling good, the starter item pack advert will go through easier, you're more likely to buy it. Easy rank ups, rewards galore. Then, when the bots become harder and player teams begin appearing, the win percentage for the majority will begin going down, and the new "mod pack offer" will be an easier sell as well for you to get that edge over others (as mods give a direct advantage the higher tier they are).
I see very little reason for them not to do this in the main game too. If they went to enough effort to disguise them, why would they not keep them?
Seriously, if they were tagged [BOT] or something I'd probably wouldn't mind as much.
Instead, they hid them. They went as far as to give them fake player profiles. That feels kinda grimy.
Reddit threads say they existed at higher ranks (Diamond, Plat) too, apparently?
Real players always had their profile ID begin with 140 to 143. The bots always had a 100 in the beginning. It was hard to miss when you were actively looking for them. Naraka Bladepoint did the same thing.
Possible, but considering higher ranked players are reporting there were bots? I doubt it. Sometimes I straight up had matches where my teammates weren't bots, but the opponents were.
