What controller is everyone planning on using for RS?

Super excited for this!!!
I imported the original Saturn version back in the late 90s and played it to death until my Saturn eventually died on me. I still have the game packed away in the attic to this day.
Am totally buying this on release. Will be interesting to see what 20+ yrs has done to my reactions & memory lol.
Anyways, what controller do people recommend for this? I've seen some Saturn type controllers online that apparently work on pc. I don't mind if it's cabled rather than wireless. Most important is the D-Pad quality and robustness. I loved the Saturn controller's D-Pad back in the day, it was perfect for fighting games. I've seen some pads by Retrobit but have heard they don't last.
Can anyone recommend a brand that is closest to the original Saturn pad and is of decent quality?

My old Xbox 360 pad for PC. Basically the same experience as with the XLBA release.

I do actually have an old wired XB 360 pad myself, but I don't like that it only has 4 main buttons. The D-Pad is pretty good though. I'll probably use it at first, but would like to eventually get something that has 6 main buttons a-la the Saturn pad.

The game is probably going to follow the X360 version, so any modern PS/Xbox controller would do.
If possible, I would like to play this with keyboad arrows + [SDVZ], unsing combinations of 3 keys for all 6 shots + 1 "bomb" attack, if that was how it was implemented, not sure.

My guess is that the whole keyboard issue with RS might have to do ghosting (ZSDV generally avoids that), and using more keys could cause issues.

I've got two 8bitdo controllers I'd like to try: the M30 that functions like a Saturn or 6-button Genesis controller, and an arcade stick.

Wii U Pro controller is what I use for any games on PC and on Switch, I've been using the Switch Pro controller, which is just about the same. No complaints here.

I recommend the Retro-Bit USB Saturn controller (Model 2). It's great for 2D games!

I own both an original Saturn pad and an old SLS (Sega Logistics Service) Saturn USB pad, and I find the Retro-bit one very close to them (perhaps a bit squishier, but still precise and comfortable).
The SLS version is my favorite, but it connects through DInput, while Retro-bit can use Xinput (you need to hold Start+B for 5s to enable it), which is a little more convenient for PC gaming.

Forgot to mention in my previous post (and Steam won't let me edit it, for some reason), but I've been using Retro-Bit's controller for a few years now (since 2019) and had no problems with it so far.

I have a bunch of controllers I want to try out with the PC version of Radiant Silvergun. Xbox Series Controller, DualShock 4 (v2), Xbox 360 Wireless Controller (modded with a transforming D-pad), 8BitDo SN30 Pro, and 8BitDo Ultimate Xbox Controller.

I have a modded Power A Fightpad, put a Saturn pad membrane in which makes it less squishy and more responsive, great for tap dodges.

I also have a Qanba arcade stick, it has a Sanwa JLF with an octa gate, 1mm oversize actuator and 2lb spring, this is my main, had it since the 360 for the import shooters.

I really like the dpad on the PS5 Dual Sense which gets quite a lot of use.

For Radiant Silvergun I always preferred a six button layout with each weapon assigned to the buttons, works brilliantly and it's how I played it on the Saturn.
