Shaikan vs rune warriors.
Curious: Who do you prefeer.
The shaikan or the runebound?
Aslo why?

I start:
I prefeer the shaikan.
My reasons is that they are a people.
They have a culture, They have land, ideals, dreams etc.
Tho also are very family focuesed.
They are also malacey heir(tho his name is cured for obvious reasons)
I also like how they must struggel against there own desire for power(aka avoid killing non shaikan)
They are know for being traitors by nature.

And what do the rune warriors have?
Warriors tricked into having there soul forged on a rune and being someone else its slave.
Even death isnt a release for them.
They are considered stronger then shaikan tho.

It is true, the Shaikan did create their own (warrior) culture. Like you've said, they're known as traitors (also serving no gods), but also as skilled and powerful warriors, thanks to their racial abilities.

On the other hand, I do not think Rune warriors had the time to create their own culture. They were slaves during the reign of the Circle mages, and for the 8+ years after the Convocation, they were usually and likely under someone else's control for the most part. The heroes of Spellforce 1 were freed by being given their own runes (and in Spellforce 2, some rune warriors found them, after rune magic was broken). And of course, the rune magic started to fade after the fall of Hokan Ashir.

I'd guess the rune warriors were similar to the Shaikan - I'd suppose rune warriors would also become a warrior based culture if their runes worked longer.

So I'd guess I like them both, for different reasons, some you've already mentoned. :)

I like the Rune warriors because they've been in so many wars as pawns, and they have hated the war ever since. Although, at the same time, it was something they were best at.

Shaikan became mostly mercenaries, I'd guess, and when they got their own land, a warrior culture.

I like the Rune warriors as non hero units better because the army you get out of nowhere is explained by them, but I prefer the shiakan as heroes. Shaikan leading an army of Rune warriors would be neat.

Rune Warriors remind me of the terminator for some reason. They get summoned.... destroy everything.... go back to sleep...

As a guy who had all the Spellforce series I had to say Rune Warrior because of Spellforce 1.

Rune warriors feel better. I still don't understand how dragonblood should allow anyone to come back to life or to be summoned but hey could be worse besides it is nice to have some story characters by yor side.

Theory: dragon blood heals wounds so effecently it can jump start your heart, repair dmg brain tissue, etc reason? it is dragon blood :P as for death. in real life the recently dead can be brought back if you are quick and lucky(remember that we jump start hearts, give mouth to mouth etc) as for summoning: spellforce is a place of magic. magic is plot divice.

Well true but there was no real explanation. I am not disliking it that much.

Well, I liked the idea of Rune warriors more, but at the same time, I don't mind the Shaikan. I wonder, since Spellforce 3 has been confirmed, perhaps a fight between rune warriors and shaikan will be possible.

Maybe Yasha will resurrect them and you can choose like in shadow of the phonix and start with different quests.

well you can pick one or two rune warriors to come back to life during the main story and i believe there is a already living one or two in free mode which is considered before the main story so its possible rune warriors can appear again but instead of being slaves use that creation to create a culture, similar to how the shaikan started off cause of there creation wasnt exactly a good thing remember mala was a evil prick to the most point i keep seeing repeated in the games, i would personally love to see them made into a culture and for the heck of it cause im a lore lover add more to each of them while there at it such as shaikan and rune warriors for some reason dont like eachother or have it explained in free mode(granted its there) or the story cause them fighting would be epic

Actually, to some degree covered in the first expansion to spellforce 1, when left free for long enough Rune Warriors have a habit of merging with local cultures, and in several cases, leading them. Of course, circumstance made that go quite badly for the two explicitly mentioned early in the plot.
