Is it better then faith in destiny?
Most definitly.
Is it better then shadow wars or dragonstorm.
debatable.
The story is ridicules(mortals facing gods ridicules)
If you havent played the previous game you wonder what the hell is going on.
Multiplayer to my knowledge still doesnt work.
That said it has a good story(if you can get over the sheer stupidty of the shaikan fighting a god)
There is alot of charater development since faith in destiny.
The free game shoud work.
So if you want the game because you like a good if somewhat ridicules story.
Then yes i say it is worth it.
If you want something with replay value get dragon commander, sins of the solar empire, age of wonders 2 shadow magic, or supreme commander forged alliance.
You start with lvl 5 (not 1 !!! ) in some city, with some predefined abilities, and weapon. At start there is big battle but you don't command soldiers, its going so automatically, you just need to click on next group of monster. Even not, because soldiers will kill them. Monsters are just staying and fight start when you go closer, its scrypted in really wrong way, its just defined triggers on map, when monsters start attack.
Levelling system and skill system is crap. You dont put point on skills and dont choose any abilities. You choose only "group" of skill which will be activated. Left icon-attack, right icon-defend, or something like that. You cant even activate it before you did not train yourself somewhere, i dont know where.
You can't see from first person perspective, and not horizontal view. So basically you have limited isometric perspective and game lost a lot of fun. And, its inconvenient.
Quest are similar: "kill this, kill that". You dont want even read the brief, its so stupid, and voices are acted in bad way, telling you just like "go there and kill them".
I finished Spell Force game (this very first one), and played a lot of times in the past. But his is different. I was playing in Spell Force 2, i dont know, about 30min, and I give it ♥♥♥♥ up!
