A bug?
Hey, I'm having a slight issue with the game. After the first 5 minutes, I am unable to "attack" my enemies. The sword icon does not appear when I hover the mouse over an enemy. Has anyone else experienced that issue and what did you do to fix it? Thanks.

this game has this problem, some of the characters are not controlled by you (according to the game), I don’t know why it occurs

I have encountered the "can't attack because the mouse doesn't change to a sword" thing, but it seems to happen only when playing with the cheat that reveals the whole map.
From what I remember: enemies that had been hidden when that cheat was activated are just not attackable this way (mouse doesn't change to a sword), even if you move close enough that they would be visible without the cheat.
My guess is that lifiting/unlifting the fog of war is strongly tied to how the game changes the mouse-over behaviour. Apparently, enabling the cheat doesn't trigger such a change by itself, but once the cheat is enabled there is no fog of war that could ever be lifted, so the change in mouse behaviour simply can't trigger anymore.

Assuming that this is indeed what's causing your issue, here's how you can deal with it (and still using the reveal cheat):
  • Even though you can't attack such enemies directly, you can still use the click-and-fight system, i.e., click on the enemy and then choose the attack (or spell) icon under the avatar/hero/group you want to use for the attack. Of course that requires to have your army set up in such groups.
  • Temporarily disable/re-enable the cheat before (or even during) a big fight. Works reasonably well before a localized fight that includes your avatar. With his/her long range of vision, the whole enemy group becomes visible even without the cheat and is then attackable even after re-enabling it. It's just a bit annoying when some roaming enemies (which where hidden without cheat) waltz in and join the fight, but you can still use the click-and-fight system for those then. And also not so great for a big base assault where yo can't see the whole area before. In this case either quickly disable/re-enable the cheat during the fight (which might be inconvenient in a hectic fight) or just disable the cheat for the fight completely.
