A sequel was released in 2022. New players could start the story from chapter 1 and play everything in one go, but for returning players who transferred their save file from the original, they added this New Game + feature. At that point, they had been stuck in the post-game chapter for over a year, and might have wanted to replay the story to refresh their memory before moving on to the new story. This is why the feature was added at that specific point in the game.
Wired is the third game, and contains everything from the previous two. They kept the NG+ feature, and have you unlock it at the same point in the story, which can be confusing as a result.
There's no benefit or exclusive content behind NG+, it's only there if you want to re-experience the story from the beginning. I'd say don't bother with it, at least not until you've reached the game's actual ending.
Oohhh Ok, that makes sense, Thank you.
Just curious: how/where does the anime fit in, in terms of plot? If one was to watch it, would it be before, or after, the events of the game?
I'm still early in the game (chapter 4), so I'm wondering if the anime is a retelling of the same story, or something that should be, say, watched before playing the game.
thank you
I would not recommend watching the anime before the game, as you'd be essentially going through the exact same story, exact same script, exact same voice acting, and sometimes even the exact same animation a second time. It can be interesting to watch in parallel to your playthrough if you want to see how they adapt certain scenes, though.
Everything from chapter 24 onwards is original to Wired and doesn't have an anime adaptation.
I'll continue on with the game, and leave the anime series for a possible watch in the future.
