The levels are not the same. Heck, even the monsters arent the same! I have heard though that the playstation version was shorter. I have played this game on PC, and it was really long and enjoyable.

main differences are dungeouns are different, and the playstation is very stunted graphically, from what i remember on the ps version it was hard to see more than 15 feet ahead of you because there was a thick fog effect/short draw distance to keep the framerate steady.

When you get hurt in PC version, your character shows the wounds. It´s not present in PS1.

wounds and such do not show in ps version and the first 4-5 levels in ps is condensed into one on pc

it has better looks on pc too

and some more animations and sounds are in pc

As someone who has completed both the PS1 and PC versions...

Obviously there's the graphics, but the gameplay is vastly different.

The level order is way different from the PS1 version, due to PS1 limitations a lot of the levels on the PS1 were much shorter, the PC version combined multiple levels into 1. So things like Spire 5 don't exist, it's just Spire and you run through Spire 1-5 or however long the spire was.

The PC also have some levels exclusive to it, there's a golem stage where you fight the golden golem king for example. He was not present in the PS1 version.

It's also way less glitchy but a bit harder to control. Oh, and Backswing and Block have different bindings in this version. Block is now Attack+Down and I believe it was L1 on the PS1 and the Backswing was X+Down. To backswing in the PC version you have to hit Attack+Left/Right and the enemy has to be behind you, really weird change.

One more minor change is that the PS1 version used to pause the game when you switched/equipped items, in the PC version it's real time.

Just a few differences I've noted.

uhm i guess the difference is no sound except music
and thank god someone said how to defend lol
now i only need to know how to open item menu lol
i mean seriously why isnt defend a button instead?

The item menus are F1-F4. F1 is Swords/Unarmed. F2 is ranged weapons, F3 is magic, F4 is consumable items off the top of my head. You can't seem to bind them to a button on a controller without 3rd party software like Xpadder too it sadly it seems. Though I haven't tested that.
