When did this happen?... Just randomly checked the hub to see that yet another game I own and love is off the market?...

Any way to obtain this game now or am i gonna have to pirate it?

I hate pirated versions of the games I love, there always full of viruses, spam, spyware, and malware ... may we should petition it back on steam?

You wouldn't get enough to sign it trust me, only a few individuals want it back to play the game and they're all commenting here, so that's probably less than 10 people.

And pirating the game is almost out of question, about three years ago there was no hope of finding a pirated copy anywhere that worked. That would have been two years after it's initial release.

Well yes, but the studio that made this game likely won't make that happen due to lack of insertion.
Well, even the earlier game from this developer is in steam (Cold War), the only difference is that the publisher for Cold War and Painkiller: Overdose is Nordic Games, while for Dreamkiller it's Aspyr. So maybe someone could ask Nordic Games, if they could republish the game in Steam and/or ask Aspyr about the reason of the game's disappearance. It's a shame the game was removed, it's possible to find a box version, but the steam copy was with achevements and there are no steamrips anywhere :(

Pretty sure the reason is lack of interest, and it was costing them to keep it on Steam so they just removed it. It's a guess but I'd say it's pretty on-par with the situation.

Doubt it. There was no discount on that title for many months, means the publisher didn't and doesn't care about this anymore. It's a general rule - if a not-recently-released title doesn't get a discount on steam sale (and was discounted before), it's going to be removed soon. And almost noone buys non-discounted games, when there are so many newer discounted ones, so "the lack of interest" is due to publisher's inactivity purely.

I wouldn't consider that a general rule since there's many reasons why that's untrue. There's a huge library of games on Steam that get absolutely no attention and remain on the store. Take for example: Cold Fear, Project: Snowblind, Gun Metal, IL2 Sturmovik, Enclave, and even System Shock 2 just to name a few. Don't say that "oh well they went on sale during Winter and Summer sales so they don't count" just as an FYI Dreamkiller has gone on sale during all major sale events for $2.49.

Well, I've added Dreamkiller in 2013 and haven't ever seen it for sale since then. Cold Fear is on sale every steam sale event + ubisoft sales, project snowblind was on weekly sales many times, Gun Metal and System Shock 2 were on daily sales and in many bundles, Enclave - lol, dlh.net is giving it for free for a year or two already. IL2 Sturmovik - which one? 1946 was on weekly sales and in many bundles, can't say anything about cliffs of dover (not available for purchasing via steam here, only retail copies with steam keys are available).

I don't think one of your statements is true, I was closely monitoring Project Snowblind for many months hoping it would one day be on sale, which during the summer at one point it finally was. Cold Fear registering as a UbiSoft bundle doesn't mean much, I think a game that is published by UbiSoft just gets UbiSoft support but nothing direct from the developers. Dreamkiller has certainly been on sale many times, every Steam sale event I've seen it go for $2.49. If there's a way of finding out for sure, go ahead and check. I'm 100% positive of this.

So many cool games vanishing these days... guess it's part of our digital only future :(
F1ReB4LL Feb 28, 2015 @ 10:18am
I've bought Project Snowblind with a -60% discount on 2013 winter steam sale. I don't know how to check the discounts calendar, but you can check the lowest prices on steamdb.info - https://steamdb.info/app/7010/
Probably we have different discounts due to different regions.
FrameRater Feb 28, 2015 @ 12:23pm
Yes, those are major sales. Those don't count. Summer sales, winter sales, at that time games are given a pre-determined discount based on previous discounted sale. This is true, because Steam automatically does this. There's even claims of different developers getting angry at Steam for putting their game in for too low a price. The only games that are not discounted during major sales are ones that the developer personally chooses and asks not to put the game on sale. An example is the Unreal Tournament series - almost never goes on sale, even during major sales. They've had packages for the UT lineup before but it's really an uncommon occurance. Dreamkiller was removed because nobody cared about it, and Aspyr was paying funds to keep the game on the store. They likely were not recieving enough profit from the game to balance keeping it on the store, so to save money they got rid of it.
FortKavanagh Feb 28, 2015 @ 7:15pm
maybe someday they would release it as an HD version of the game, it worked for zombie driver and gatling gears?
R3DRos3 Mar 14, 2015 @ 5:07am
