What is "buttering"(?) and how do I do perform it?
Ay errybody, I'm still a noob when it comes to this whole "winter sports" thing.
What is "buttering"(?) exactly, and how would one go about doing it in-game?
And, well, when it comes to winter sports, I'm a snowboarder.
Would "buttering"(?) on a snowboard be the same as on skis?
Thanks!

Ah, okay.
I was looking through the key bindings and noticed that left control was to butter.
It didn't seem to do anything but restrict my controls -- it's kinda hard to press all of those keys at once.
But yeah, thanks for the response!

It is possible, click triangle or Y on controller and it was bined to shift before an update or it might be the left control for keyboard. It makes you spin faster on rails and you can butter 180 etc off jumps if you time it right.

a butter on a snowboard is what a manual or nose manual is on a skateboard

The butter feature of this game however does not work very well. It does make you spin faster, but you cannot butter off a jump or lip as seen in the video clip. You also have to begin buttering way before the jump, and it almost never works.

This is an example of the type of "buttering" you can do in game. It's not easy but really fun to do. https://youtu.be/mep-oVq5BUc

Pyrojoe, I wouldn't call that buttering, although it does look awesome. It was a bad landing onto the nose of your skis and then you reversed the direction.

I was going for something like this: https://youtu.be/S2J92SxA3Rk?t=2m55s where you butter into the landing on your tips/tail.

More common type to do in the game is like this: https://youtu.be/SklS2gI-Bus?t=15s (going off the jump before the wall)

and the first two tricks and the one at 00:30 in this video: https://youtu.be/jFFj_q8vNao

Those videos are awesome. The inspired by Adam Delorme video looks just like him. I do not have those skills on the mountain or in this game. And it does show some good examples of buttering. Guess I'll have to work on it more. Although I still think the butter feature of the game needs a lot of work.

Pyrojoe, are you playing with a keyboard or game pad? If game pad, how are you setting up the buttering off a jump or lip? I can't for the life of me get it down. Are you holding the jump and butter button together, then using a direction arrow to spin and releasing the jump button? Or no jump button at all?
