These guys would be DSP, but they don't have the commitment to stick it out that he does. And that says a lot.
Still read through some of the new player feedback.
Most seem to be technical issues. Ragequits.
Then there is clunky combat (fair), no OCE (fair), not enough tutorial, I don't like PvP (go away), matchmaking.
Here are some examples:
"Hits Skeleton 11 times while dodging hits.
Gets hit once and dies. "
"Needs an option to not lose all items when you die"
One sad guy got cornered by two deers and had nowhere to go.
And nutcases like :
"They've literally stolen multiple assets, mechanics, and coding from DaD and copy-pasted it into a mobile game engine"
Yeah buddy. That is not how that works.
Player with more time played seem to criticize mostly Clotho's trial (word), balance, gear disparity, cheating and timegated legendary drops (understandable).
Without the playtime filter there are 59% negative reviews in the last 7 days (303 positive, 423 negative).
Still not looking good.
Sales went up - don't tell me people bought the pixel skins ^^
Expecting people to keep playing a game that they aren't enjoying or having a good experience with is nonsensical. The simple fact of the matter is that a video game has to provide an enjoyable experience in order to attract and retain players. If you provide a frustrating, unfun experience then people aren't going to keep playing your game.
You get that in casual castle currently, though? With the recent patch you now have the bracket being 0-20 with 9 players (up from gray players being capped at 6 player matches). Increasing the max player count from 6 to 9 is one of the few changes they've done that I've actually really liked. It is possible to bring in a purple (heirloom only?), but only under specific conditions.
You can't play in classic mode with GBMM, though.
Damn. You really pulled the DSP card.
Those people are absolutely right.
This isn't Tarkov where a good shot will net you a kill so long as the bullet loaded in your gun is of a good enough caliber and PvP is concentrated to a few small locations on otherwise vast maps.
You get 2 maps with crappy layouts, classes that are in no way balanced for either team or 1v1 fights, basically braindead auto-pilot PvE that is a slog to get through and of no use as a 3rd party if you get jumped on, and several classes that are explicitly designed to benefit from the style of play that is the least fun to face possible.
The game has some merit in a team, where you can side-step some of the issues with the combined DPS and added safety in numbers, but if you want to just casually solo-que or only just started out, there is literally nothing to keep you playing.
The only thing Dungeonborne has going for it is that it's relatively generous, but even that wears thin after a while, because there isn't much of a goal to it.
