Its combat system is like a very sluggish and unsatisfying. I enjoy games like Mordhau and Chilvalry, which are even deeper than DnD but the difference is it feels like your fighting in quicksand.
Similar to Diablo in some ways. You break down gear to get materials (diff mat depending on the rarity of the item) or spend gold to buy the material and then you unlock a weapon, helmet or jewelry item thats upgradable and can have attributes tweaked. When you die, you can go craft the item so it makes starting over after death less brutal but doesnt make death trivial and adds depth outside of the RNG of drops. You can only have 1 of each of the heirloom slots equipped at one time, so its not particularly OP but strong enough to make it worth doing and advancing. They can also still be lost when you die. its very very cool.
If we are honest, thats every style of game and these games are basically just doing what D&D style campaigns have done for decades, in a more accessible real-time way.
There is a chance to find a triple portal in one spot. so when you activate it, 3 open. You can tell because its 3 circles on the ground touching eachother, in a triangle arrangement. Sort of like the Led Zeppelin image
I dont disagree but since its still in playtest, those things are expected to take a bit to dial in.
Its fine to argue that super hardcore sweaty pvp games are the 'best' and this is arcadey (not sure how thats a bad thing, are you even old enough to remember arcades?? ^^) but by and large they very quickly become games with dwindling populations and only super toxics left. Toxic hardcore pvpers dont seem to grasp the concept that if you keep dumping on people and telling them to 'git gud' or 'play something else noob' then they will, happily.... and then wheres your playerbase.
As someone who generally prefers coop survival games, I am really enjoying this, the beautiful detailed maps, the skills are fun, the pvp is pretty enjoyable, sometimes you get wiped without evening knowing it was about to happen, which is frustrating but other times you get a good fight win or lose and have some fun.
I have never understood why people would come to another games discussion page just to flame it? I guess thats the way the internet is these days, its easier to complain and find holes in something than to support it and encourage.
